Normally when autumn rolls around the planting season is over and the average gardener puts their garden to bed until the following spring where they restart their gardening work, but did you know that many plants and vegetables can be planted in the autumn months and will be ready to bloom and harvest when the spring following spring comes? Second plantings really refer to planting bulbs and seeds during the autumn to help you have an early harvest before the next spring and summer crop are even planted. Some vegetables and plants that are commonly planted during autumn are broccoli, turnips, lettuce, carrots, peas, radish, spinach, leeks, beets, radishes, collards, and more.

This is a great idea for anyone who wants to get a head start on their gardening season and try to make the most out of their later months, because normally people feel as though that once the summer is over that gardening is really over for the year but this is just not true and there are many options out there for people who want to continue gardening year round.
